four spring break closures in berkeley
berkeley's hawaiian-japanese masa ramen bistro had a spring break sign on its door through april 14, but the restaurant remains shut and now it's marked temporarily closed on yelp. ("reopening january 1, 2027.") a peek into the dining room reveals a dark space with damage to the ceiling – at the very least the easygoing ramen restaurant, opened in covid-era 2022, is closed for now. masa ramen bistro was at 1923 university avenue in berkeley.
also opened in 2022, sistory thai kitchen at 1233 san pablo avenue in berkeley is now under construction. contractors on site say to expect a remodel and new owners, though when the space will reopen and whether the restaurant will keep the sistory name is unclear. the restaurant is also marked closed on yelp and its website no longer operates. the current iteration of sistory thai kitchen was at 1233 san pablo avenue in berkeley and is currently closed.
up on telegraph avenue, pakistani spot wrap n roll has closed after three years, and signs for upcoming gurkha kitchen express (indian and nepalese minichain) are already in the window. wrap n roll was at 2493 telegraph avenue in berkeley.
lastly, as frontloaded by sfgate this week describing a recent lawsuit against the restaurant, berkeley's 20-year-old bobby g's pizzeria seems at least temporarily and possibly permanently shuttered. the lights are still on, but the bar and dining room have remained closed and vacant during regular business hours, and delivery slips are stuck to the doors. we will update if we learn more, but for now, bobby g's pizzeria at 2072 university avenue in berkeley is closed.
