atmospheric downtown berkeley watering hole spats has recently undergone a management change, and they've brought a few updates to the storied saloon space.
the new team is formerly of oakland's closed golden bull, and have upped the live comedy and music scene at the shattuck avenue bar, with a refreshed stage and performance area called the spatz room.
in intriguing food news, oakland-based, punk-inflected, japanese fried chicken shop aburaya is now vending from the berkeley bar's renovated kitchen, including during weekday lunch hours. watch for dates and times for their pop-ups (and live show and event info) on instagram.
