local fans of san francisco-based restaurant and hospitality group flour + water might have already spotted that the group's first east bay outpost flour + water pizza shop at the lark will open january 22 at 271 24th street in oakland.

as first shared today by the chronicle, the new flour + water pizza shop, located at the base of oakland's the lark uptown at 24th and harrison, will offer easy neighborhood pizza dining, with counter seating, a communal table area, an open kitchen and some sidewalk seating, as well as east bay delivery of the group's standout pizza through grubhub, ubereats and doordash.

flour + water pizza shop's 13-inch specialty pies feature strong neapolitan and new york influences but use 'west coast-style' technique – dough is slow-fermented then baked at lower temperatures in electric ovens, with airy, lightly charred results. well-sourced ingredients and toppings are signature here – the cacio e pepe white pie features pecorino crema; a smoky eggplant pie layers smoked mozzarella with eggplant, taggiasca olives and calabrian chili.

along with 13-inch pies, the crowd-pleasing menu has options such as gluten-free, 8x8-inch sicilian style square pizzas and 'big slices,' mozzarella sticks with marinara, ricotta meatballs, antipasti, and caesar and chop salads.

special nods exclusive to the new oakland location will include dry-fried chicken wings seasoned with nearby oaktown spice co.'s 'grand lake shake' spice blend, and a 'dough boy' house kolsch in collaboration with local temescal brewing. lambrusco slushies also make an appearance on the beverage list that includes beer, wine and nonalcoholic drinks. also, locals: an in-person weekday lunch special offers diners a choice of big slice and half salad for $16 (monday-friday, 11:30am-3:30pm).

the original flour + water italian restaurant from chef thomas mcnaughton opened in san francisco's mission district in 2009, and quickly became a city favorite; co-chef ryan pollnow joined the team the following year.

the co-chefs and their team have since notably expanded their brand across san francisco, opening the full-service flour + water pizzeria in north beach, casual flour + water pasta shop and rustic penny roma in the mission, and two san francisco locations for flour + water pizza shop. the group also has its own pasta line, flour + water foods, and a partnership in san francisco's trick dog.
