mendocino farms, now open in berkeley
downtown berkeley has a new spot for salads, soups and sandwiches with today's opening of chain eatery mendocino farms. the counter-service restaurant launched inside the long-dormant, modern space that was briefly (just before covid) noah's bagels at 1919 shattuck avenue.
the socal-based group's seasonal, mostly healthful lunch specials – wraps, sandwiches, big salads, soups and sides – as well as its focus on easy corporate catering have made it a familiar go-to for years in financial districts and suburban office areas.
its opening seems to herald an uptick in foot traffic and a return to work as usual for downtown-area businesses. (it also might give nearby sweetgreen, tender greens and mixt greens some healthy salad chain competition.)

note: for fast take-out be sure to order ahead, as there are no grab-and-go options at the restaurant.
indoor and outdoor tables are available for dine-in with counter service, and there's an easy kid's menu.
